A dogs life is incomplete if it unsure of its position in the hierarchy
of its surroundings. A dog is a pack animal, an animal that is but only
one generation away from reverting back to its wild state.
A dog has a need for discipline. It must be trained to cohabit with man.
A
dog cannot be successfully blackmailed, cajoled bribed or lured into
being responsive to man. Neither can man beat, bully or starve a dog
into submission and achieve lasting results.
These
options have been used repeatedly to no avail. The end result is
inevitably a frightened or aggressive animal which is totally
unreliable and serves no purpose that can be accepted by man.
On the other hand, if a man accepts that a dog needs discipline and he
instills that discipline into a dog in a firm, consistent and
considerate manner, and he uses neither cruel or brutal methods but at
all times employs educated and proven methods then the result will be a
happy, reliable, well adjusted animal that has confidence and self
respect and is a constant source of pride to its owner. |
